UBMD Internal Medicine is one of 18 medical practices in the UBMD Physicians’ Group.  Our physicians are internists first, certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine to treat adult patients.  Our specialists are certified in the primary sub-specialties associated with Internal Medicine, specifically:

Hospitalists
UBMD Internal Medicine is the clinical practice plan affiliated with the University at Buffalo’s Department of Medicine.  UB’s Department of Medicine seeks highly motivated and experienced board-certified or board-eligible internists interested in academic careers combining inpatient care with teaching.  The successful hospitalist will be appointed at the rank of clinical assistant/associate professor.  The hospitalist will be part of a patient-centered team dedicated to providing compassionate care to a diverse vulnerable population while teaching and supervising residents and students.  For more information and to apply, visit the Department of Medicine's Employment Opportunities page.  This position is for MDs and all applications must be made via the UB Employment Opportunities page only.

 

Hospitalist APP (Nights) – Buffalo General Medical Center

Full time NP/PA to work nights on busy hospitalist service at Buffalo General Medical Center.  Expected schedule is 4 days on and 4 days off.   Must be a graduate of an accredited NP/PA program, have current NYS license.  Must have ability to work independently, be flexible, demonstrate judgment and initiative while operating during demanding situations.

 
Physician (Internal Medicine) - Buffalo General Medical Center
DUTIES: Provide comprehensive medical services for adult patients.  Services include primary care and treatment, preventative care, immunizations, health education, prescribing of medications, ordering or interpreting lab testing, physical examinations, STD screenings, vision/hearing, family planning, and nutrition.

POSITION REQUIREMENT: Medical degree or foreign equivalent; completion of three years of training in Internal Medicine; valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York.  Employer will accept Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Internal Medicine as evidence of completion of the training requirement. 

 
Director of Clinical Operations
UBMD Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time Director of Clinical Operations to provide oversight of all outpatient clinical operations and staffing.  Responsible for identifying areas in need of improvement, making recommendations and modifications to improve and streamline processes and workflows.  Reporting directly to COO, will assist in identifying needs, resources, improvements, processes, etc.  Will collaborate with other department heads regarding clinical information, staffing, etc to support contracting strategies, new physician recruitment, business plans, space planning, room utilization, etc.  Will act as the owner of process improvement to ensure optimization of patient workflows.  Responsible for implementing, revising and updating SOP's for each outpatient clinic and educating staff to changes.  NYS Registered Nurse with BSN required.  RN with MBA or MPH preferred.  Minimum of 5-7 years of management/supervisory experience required, preferably in an outpatient/ambulatory setting.  Must have strong initiative, organizational, communication and multitasking skills.  Must demonstrate leadership and change management abilities. 

 

Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner - Gastroenterology (GI) Division

Full-time, will have outpatient clinics in Williamsville and at Conventus on the Medical Campus.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: outpatient clinic activity, point of contact for referring physicians and maintaining quality data for the division.  Will be expected to participate in assessment and management of patient care as it relates to GI.  Will need to complete patient records in EMR system; handle urgent calls and tasks for physicians who are unavailable; communicate effectively/accurately with patients, families and physicians; collaborate with physician on designing and implementing appropriate plan of care for the patient or chooses appropriate treatment based on predetermined protocols; other clinical duties as assigned.

Must be a graduate of an accredited NP/PA program and have current NYS license.  Gastroenterology experience required.  EMR experience required.  Must have ability to work independently, be flexible, demonstrate judgment and initiative while operating during demanding situations.

 
Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiology

Full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for Cardiology practice in fast paced clinic located in Williamsville.  RN will work as part of the Patient Care Team under the general supervision of a physician by taking an active role in performing cardiac stress testing and monitoring the patient during and after the procedure.  The RN will be responsible for coordinating information with providers and providing overall quality patient-centered care.  Will collaborate with multiple faculty, staff and community partners regarding patient needs, outcomes, condition, etc.  Will act as back up for the RN Device Nurse as needed or requested.  Must be a graduate from accredited School of Nursing with an active and unrestricted NYS license to practice as a RN, minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a RN in Cardiology, with specific training and expertise in performing cardiac stress testing required.  BLS and ACLS required, excellent communication and customer service skills required, including experience and comfort level in providing and facilitating group presentations.  Critical thinking skills required with ability to evaluate and respond effectively and efficiently.  

 

Medical Coder – Goodell

A full-time position located on Goodell Street in downtown Buffalo.  Reviews, analyzes and codes diagnostic, procedural and/or surgical information that determines Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance payments.  The primary function for this position is to perform ICD9 (and 10), CPT and HCPCS coding for reimbursement.  Two years of billing experience (physician billing preferred) required.  Two years of coding experience using ICD9M or equivalency required.

 

Biller - Dermatology

Full-time Biller for office in Williamsville.  Primary functions include but are not limited to payment posting, A/R follow up, charge entry, front desk duties including check in/out, authorizations and scheduling.  EMR experience required.  Medical billing coursework required.    H.S. diploma or equivalent.  Associate’s degree preferred.  Two years of physician billing experience required.  Knowledge of coding helpful.  

 
Scheduling Coordinator

Full-time Scheduling Coordinator for busy Amherst outpatient clinic.  Responsible for managing all primary care, sub-specialty, fellow and resident schedules.  Day-to-day tasks include, but are not limited to, oversight of all patient scheduling including freezing, tracking change forms and rescheduling.  Will also assist in developing and measuring operating metrics, manage interdepartmental communication, assist with data collections and reporting, monitor patient experience line and identify areas of improvement.  Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.  Must be able to multitask and work efficiently.  EMR and scheduling experience required.  High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Secondary education and/or training preferred.  Minimum of 2 years' experience in a healthcare setting.  Private practice experience preferred. 
 
LPN Practice Facilitator – Youngs

Full-time LPN Practice Facilitator to work with the PCMH team at the Youngs Road clinic.  Responsibilities include piloting changes in workflows and new approaches to patient care (pre-visit planning, care coordination, hospital follow up, discharge planning), working with care team on the quality improvement process including implementation of PDSA Cycles to improve clinical practice and patient care.  Will assist the medical practice in maximizing use of available health information technology resources in order to achieve improved patient outcomes and increased office efficiencies.  Will work with other staff within the practice to provide team-based care and collaborate with other health care professionals, community agencies, patients’ family members and others involved in a patient’s care.  Must support the Patient Centered Medical Home model of care, which is patient centered, physician-led and team-based.  Qualified candidates must have current NYS LPN license, experience in pre-visit planning/practice facilitation, discharge planning and care/service coordination are preferred.  2 -3 years experience working in an outpatient clinic or primary care practice also preferred.  Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills required.  Ability and willingness to travel locally as needed.  Must have valid NYS Drivers License.
