UBMD Internal Medicine is one of 18 medical practices in the UBMD Physicians’ Group.  Our physicians are internists first, certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine to treat adult patients.  Our specialists are certified in the primary sub-specialties associated with Internal Medicine, specifically:

Job Openings

Three full-time A/R specialists needed who will be responsible for accurately analyzing and processing both inpatient and outpatient charges for timely claim submission.  Will also be responsible for performing extensive follow up on denials including underpaid, adjudicated, un-adjudicated claims and collection accounts and file appeals as needed.  Will post payments and denials into software system and answer patient inquiries as needed.  High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate's degree preferred.  Two to five years' experience in medical billing/medical collections required.  Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding and medical terminology required.  Excellent communication and customer service skills required.  Must be team-oriented and have the ability to work independently.  Attention to detail required.
Full time certified Coder needed to analyze documentation and accurately assign codes for hospitalist and primary care/specialty evaluation and management.  Must be familiar with procedures using the appropriate ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes.  Coder should be familiar with Medicare, Medicaid, No Fault, Workers' Comp and private insurance guidelines.  Responsibilities include performing the assignment of codes, verification of completeness for reimbursement, providing education and training to providers as needed, and reviewing records to ensure that all components such as patient and record identification, signatures and dates are present.  CCS, CCS-P or CPC certification required as well as two years or more of coding experience.
Full time MA needed to answer incoming calls in a professional/courteous manner at all times.  Must be able to distribute the calls to appropriate clinics or handle independently.  Will deliver strong customer services to every caller.  Must have ABOVE AVERAGE customer service and communication skills.  Minimum 2-3 years' customer service experience, preferably in a call center and/or health care setting.  MA experience is preferred but will consider others with call center experience.  Candidates who are bilingual are strongly encouraged to apply.  Strong scheduling experience preferred.
Full time Medical Records Clerk needed for coordination of medical records, records requests and daily maintenance.  One year experience in medical field required.  Medical terminology and attention to detail required.
Full time Director of Quality Improvement (DQI) needed to develop, implement & monitor quality improvement processes and policies/procedures.  The DQI will be responsible for meeting and achieving the quality metrics and goals through provider communication and education on metrics and internal quality reports received and generated in both inpatient and outpatient settings.  Will be responsible for ensuring maximization of quality and risk-share incentives available from hospital partners.  Will collaborate with Vice Chair of Quality Improvement & Patient Safety on QI-related functions.  Master's degree in Public Health, Health Services Administration or Business Administration or NYS Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or LIcensed NYS Registered Nurse (BSN).  Minimum of 5-7 years of health care related experience, preferably in quality improvement and/or utilization review required.  Must demonstrate leadership abiliteis as well as analytical/critical thinking skills.  Excellent communication skills, as well as creative and persistent problem-solving skills.  Valid NYS driver’s license that meets company driving standards.
Full-time Director of APP's for Hospital Medicine program needed to manage and schedule team of 4 APP's.  Management responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, training, recruitment, performance review, disciplinary action.  Clinical practice will include daily rounds and collaborating with interdisciplinary team to initiate and coordinate early discharge.  Will work closely with the Director and Administrative Director on any administrative matters involving patient care, hospital concerns, process improvements, etc.  Hours for position will be primarily 7 pm to 7 am for 15 clinical shifts per month.  Minimum of 5 years' experience as an NP/PA, graduate of an accredited NP/PA program with current NYS license.  Prior management experience preferred.  Must be able to work independently and have excellent communication and multi-tasking skills.
